Get more (better) information on housing prices

I am often asked about a resource for housing prices. While not an exhaustive list, the list of resources provided by the Counselors of Real Estate provides some good starting points. Note that housing research and data power houses like CoreLogic and CoStar are noted at the bottom under Subscription-Based Resources. They do provide some excellent public information.

It’s worth saying that when it comes to real estate, it is apples and oranges. For example, the term housing can mean ownership or investment property. It can mean single family dwellings and large apartment complexes. So, as you read, read carefully for the type of housing they are writing about.
